I’m excited to introduce the California Collection — a series celebrating the surf, skate, and coastal culture of Los Angeles. Each piece is available framed or unframed, ideal for collectors who want to bring the spirit of California’s coastline into their homes. Think retro aesthetic, vibrant colors, grainy textures from film photography and cinematic aerials – just what your space is calling for.
Huntington Beach: Surf Lifesaving
Last month, Huntington Beach set the stage for the US Lifesaving Association’s National Tournament – a blend of rolling surf, athleticism, and California’s iconic coastal culture on full display. It was an amazing event to be part of with Hampton Lifeguard Association (HLA), bringing over 60 juniors and professional guards – finishing an impressive 5th overall. To capture the event, I relied on my Nikon D750 for its reliable autofocus and speed. It allowed me to shoot crisp sequences of fast-moving action

Venice Beach: Skater Energy
Venice pulses with art and movement, and the skate park is its beating heart. I was struck by the women carving the bowls with such ease — completely in their element. To capture their flow, I used my Hasselblad DJI drone, allowing me to shoot aerial perspectives without interrupting the skaters’ rhythm.
To honor the retro surf–skate aesthetic, I also shot on Kodak 35mm film with a vintage Nikon F-601 camera. The grain, texture, and vivid color give the images that unmistakable 1970s energy that digital rarely replicates.
Malibu: Endless Surf Culture
Driving the Pacific Coast Highway, I found surfers parking cars and kombis wherever the waves broke perfectly. Surfrider Beach has a ritualistic, almost sacred feel — surf is its culture. To capture it authentically, I shot rolls of Kodak film on the Nikon F-601 camera, letting the film’s colors and texture echo the timelessness of Malibu itself. The result feels like stepping back into another era — yet it’s unmistakably California today.

Laguna Beach: Skim-boarders at Thalia
At Thalia Street Beach in Laguna, the skim boarders were nothing short of captivating. They launched down the slope into shore break, reading the sets, gliding across water, and sharing an unsung rhythm. The entire beach was absorbed in the sport, and my Nikon F-601 was the perfect tool for capturing that retro energy.

Behind the Lens: Nikon, Hasselblad & Film
The California Collection was created using a blend of Nikon digital and analog photography, Hasselblad aerial photography, and Kodak film. Each tool was chosen with intention:
- Nikon D750 for sharp, fast-action surf and lifestyle shots, including Huntington Beach’s lifesaving events.
- Hasselblad DJI drone for sweeping aerials of the Venice skate park and coastline.
- Kodak 35mm film on a Nikon F-601 camera for that textured nostalgic surf aesthetic.
Working across mediums allowed me to honor the culture of each location — from Venice’s raw skate energy to Malibu’s timeless surf rituals.
The California Collection is now available as fine art prints — framed or unframed — perfect for coastal homes or anyone chasing that endless summer.
