“For this space, I wanted to have artwork that felt like a window you could step into,” says the Sag Harbor client. “It brings that sense of relaxed coastal living into everyday life.”

For this project, I worked closely with Ally Cowie of Grounded Home Studio, who led the full redesign and styling. She selected every detail creating a space that feels calm, thoughtful, and timeless. “We selected traditional Victorian finishes and hardware silhouettes to maintain a historical feel and consistency throughout the rest of the house,” says Ally, “but paired those accents with bright, clean and natural colors and lines for a serene and fresh feel.”

“We knew we wanted pieces from the GH collection, one that was local and familiar, and one that played with the famed Byron Bay vibe,” the client says. Two pieces selected - Swimming at Mecox Beach (from the Hamptons collection) and The Pass Playground (from the Byron Bay collection) - add warmth and continuity. Together, they tell a story of coastal living without feeling staged.

“The two pieces balance each other perfectly,” the client notes. Beyond aesthetics, the artwork changes how the space is experienced. “It’s the first thing you notice,” they say. “Guests always ask about it, and it’s become a real conversation piece.”

The style of framing was also chosen with care. Medium oak complements the natural tones of the vanity and tiles, while adding a subtle warmth to the space. “The tones work with everything,” adds Ally. “From the vanity to the tiles, it all feels connected.” Installed as a pair, the artworks create a rhythm, each holding its own while naturally working together to anchor the space.

For this Sag Harbor bathroom, the artwork settles naturally into the space. It’s not just something to look at, but something to step into—a place to daydream.
