There’s nothing that says Hamptons more than a farmstand perched along the side of the road, a wagon full of the freshest vegetables out front, and a small farm just behind; a market offering artisanal food, complete with a beautifully curated outdoor space to enjoy a cup of coffee and a seasonal muffin.
When I photograph the Hamptons, I try to remove myself from my surroundings and observe the scenes unfolding around me as if I were another one of the iconic blue hydrangeas. In summer, it’s bike rides down hedgerows, shopping on Main Street, and dinners under string lights. In autumn, it’s apple and pumpkin picking at the Milk Pail U-Pick Farm, fresh tomato soup on the veranda of the Sagaponack General Store, and selecting Thanksgiving sides from Round Swamp Farm.
Farmstands play a defining role in capturing the laid-back, luxurious ease of the Hamptons lifestyle. Here are a few farmstands I photographed on 35mm film this season.

Whether it’s the charm of a roadside stand or the ritual of stopping for coffee and fresh flowers, these moments define the Hamptons’ easy rhythm. What’s your favorite farmstand?
