Adding to the Australia series, this body of work was born from a week spent soaking in the atmosphere of Byron Bay in January 2025. Byron was a tremendous joy for me to photograph — laidback, inviting, and confident.
Coming from three weeks of high energy immersed of Sydney’s beach scene, Byron felt like an exhale. Its beaches aren’t about spectacle. They’re personal, barefoot mornings, salty afternoons, and a rhythm that invites you to stay awhile. The collection reflects those slow coastal days, the warmth of family activities, and the unspoken cool that defines so much of Australian life.
Byron isn’t just a destination; it’s a feeling. Each photograph brings that spirit home. A taste of the sun-burnt country, captured in images that don’t shout; they linger.

Sun Worshiper, Byron Bay
I knew this was a special moment the instant I saw her—sunbathing with intention, completely in her element, tucked between the rocks. This image invokes the vibes of Byron Bay. Known for its alternative culture and off-the-grid energy, Byron has this relaxed, free-spirited characteristic that’s hard to put into words, but easy to feel.
Reflections at The Pass
One of the things I loved about Byron was how many women were in the surf. Spending New York summers in Montauk, where the lineup tends to be male dominated, it was refreshing to see the balance. The women moved through the water with such grace, and I wanted to capture that. This image shows the rhythm of surfers coming and going at the famed break. The colors really stand out to me here and reflect that earthy, natural palette Byron is known for.
The Pass, Byron Bay
This beach scene is so classically Byron. Shot on film, it captures the layered storylines of different families and beachgoers all sharing the space. I love how each person is in their own world, yet totally in sync with the place. These characters act as stand-ins for anyone—you can easily imagine yourself here.
