How to Care for Your Framed Fine Art Photography

Each Grace Hinchen fine art photograph is thoughtfully printed and framed by hand in Sag Harbor, New York. Our custom frames are made to order using natural oak or poplar wood, with the latter hand-painted in a white or black finish.

Every framed photograph is protected with Tru Vue Conservation Clear glass, which blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays. The 2.5mm-thick glass provides strength and clarity without distortion, helping preserve the colors and details of your fine art print for years to come.

With a few simple care practices, you can maintain the beauty and longevity of your framed photography.

How to Clean the Glass on Your Framed Artwork

To clean Tru Vue Conservation Clear glass, use a soft, clean microfiber cloth. Lightly mist the cloth with an ammonia-free glass cleaner, never spraying directly onto the glass. Gently wipe the surface to remove fingerprints, dust, and smudges without leaving streaks.

Avoid abrasive materials or harsh cleaning products that could damage the protective glass coating.

How to Dust and Maintain Your Wood Frame

Our handmade oak and painted wood frames require minimal maintenance. To remove dust, gently wipe the frame with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or feather duster.

Avoid water, furniture polish, or cleaning sprays, as these may damage the natural wood or hand-painted finish.

How to Safely Handle Framed Fine Art Photography

When moving or hanging your framed photograph, always use two hands to support the frame from its sides rather than lifting it by the top edge or hanging hardware.

Handle your artwork with clean, dry hands or cotton gloves to prevent fingerprints and oils from transferring onto the glass and frame.

Protecting Your Fine Art Photography Over Time

For long-term preservation, display your framed photography away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and extreme temperature changes. While our conservation glass offers excellent UV protection, thoughtful placement helps maintain the condition of both the photograph and its handcrafted frame.

With proper care, your Grace Hinchen framed photograph can remain a lasting part of your collection, preserving the artwork and the sense of place it brings into your home.
